Customer Review: A decent dehydrator...not great.

My favorite dehydrator was a $20 Sunbeam from Walmart. It withstood years or fairly heavy use. Once the trays on that one finally started falling apart, I upgraded to a cheap one from Fleet Farm. After one use, I noticed the trays were melting. So I returned it and ordered this one from Amazon.
The thing works but some peculiarities that keep it from being great. First off, the trays are a thin...so thin in fact that after each washing, I have to stack them back on the base and hope they straighten out again. Also, the trays don't seat very well on each other or the base so it takes a little searching to find their true place. And finally, the dehydrator unit is in the lid. I'm not sure why they did this. With most dehydrators, the unit is in the base and doesn't extrude out from there much. But with this one, it goes all the way down into the trays. This means it must always have all the trays stacked on. You can just do one tray if you want, you need all of them.
Other than that, it works. So I don't have a real need to replace it but I wouldn't buy it again.
